Focus Profiles introduce you to individual children in the ABCD program who need help with school costs.
Joshua lives in Nduweni village, Marangu West Ward, Kilimanjaro Region and is studying at Makomu Secondary School. He lives with his mother Eliza and his brothers Emmanuel, Ibrahimu, Calvin and Aman. Their father passed away a few years ago. Joshua’s mother does manual labor for village families and livestock farming to earn money for food at home.
Joshua’s family would like to thank ABCD for paying Joshua’s school fees, which has enabled the family to save money to make repairs on their house and buy food.
Joshua helps his mother with household chores, especially on weekends, such as feeding the animals and cultivating the vegetable garden. He studies and does schoolwork as best he can in dim lighting as their house has no electricity.
Joshua likes to play football with his friends on weekends after doing household chores. He believes that one day he will build a nice house for his mother. Joshua loves listening to music and singing folk songs and his biggest dream is to become a great soccer player.
