We recently met with the mamas who form Care: ABCD Tanzania, a local group of women who sew menstrual care kits for girls in secondary schools and women in the villages. These kits are washable, good for up to 3 years of use and importantly, keep the girls’ attendance much higher in school as well as free from urinary tract infections.
ABCDreams funds the purchase of enough kits for the girls who enter first year at 2 secondary schools so that’s around 250 kits! Volunteer Christine here in Canada, also sews the kits and every year makes around 50 kits to contribute to the mamas total output.
Here we are during this year’s visit, presenting Christine’s kits to the mamas as well as some baby blankets she made for the local infirmary. Thanks to mama Christine for her efforts!
