This is a follow up to the earlier post in which we were delighted to announce that we had found a Canadian source of solar lights for our families, Karibu Solar.
The solar light kits have now been delivered to 19 of our families who have no electricity and were relying on kerosene. The families are so happy to have these lights in their homes providing strong light and improving their quality of life. We are particularly happy that the ABCD children in those families can now read and do school work in the evenings without harming their eyes in the dim light and fumes of kerosene lamps.
There are two lights and a solar panel provided in each kit. The flexible stand for the lights gives them great mobility and they can be hung from a wall or ceiling or stood on a table. A USB port on the lights also allows cell phone charging.
