Days For Girls Personal Care Kits
We were very happy to deliver 85 personal care kits to Makomu Dispensary and Nurse Eva with assistant Sophie were even more happy to receive them! Last year well over a hundred kits were delivered and gratefully received.
Nurse Eva will instruct the girls who receive them as to their proper us and track their use as they are given out so that we can provide feedback to our partner organization in this project, Days For Girls International.
These kits were sewn and assembled by past volunteer Christine with much help from the Ottawa Ontario chapter of Days for Girls. Hours and hours of work go into each kit and these kits provide menstrual empowerment to teenage girls in the community, allowing them to attend school regularly and avoid illness and infection during their periods.
Up to 20 babies a month are delivered at Makomu Dispensary so the plan next year is to bring more post partum kits.
