We have a small but mighty team of 4 going to Tanzania this year. Due to the Ebola outbreak in western Africa, folks were cautious about signing up this year, but we are a determined team ready to carry on the work of ABCD.
Susan, who has been on a previous trip, and Brenda will be meeting Lynn and Frank in Tanzania. They are very excited to start work at Makomu Primary School where they will be welcomed to teach the children English, sports and other subjects on alternate days. They will also continue the work of last year’s crew in painting another classroom at the school. After their volunteer work, Susan and Brenda will be going on a safari.
Lynn and Frank have a long list of tasks to accomplish including visiting many schools to meet teachers and our ABCD students; monitoring the start of our new infrastructure projects (new school roof, new library, toilet repair, and a new toilet); and checking on last years projects and breakfast programs. An important meeting is planned to discuss with local village leaders the establishment of ABCD Tanzania as a registered Tanzanian NGO. We are very happy to be returning once again to see our friends in the communities of Marangu West. Stay tuned to our website for our blogs from Africa!
