Thanks to students at Maple High School!

Ali, Hashir, Paul and Visith presenting me with a cheque

On Jan. 13, I visited Maple High School and was warmly welcomed by Sharon Soares, the Grade 12 Geography teacher of a group of boys who are in her Global Issues class. The boys chose to ‘take action’ in their course by learning about and then fundraising for ABCD in their school. I was invited to meet the boys in their classroom and make a presentation about ABCD to the whole class. The students were keenly interested in hearing about our Tanzanian children, and I look forward to visiting again in the second semester to speak to another group of students. Thanks to the boys, Ali, Hashir, Paul and Visith and Ms. Soares for showing such compassion and caring for the children of ABCD.

  1. It is inspiring to read stories like this about what our young people are doing. These students are learning that it is always better to give than to receive and that their efforts and compassion can and will have a strong impact on others.
